something that gets me through most days is this conversation that was passed on to me recently:

kindergarten boy (very dramatically): mom, what would you say if i told you i loved another woman as much as i love you?
mom: well, i think that would be okay.
kindergarten boy: oh, good. because i am in love with one of the yard duties at school.
mom: tell me about her.
kindergarten boy: i don't know her name but she has brown hair and i just love her, mom. i love her a lot.

the yard duty he is in love with? me. this, from a kid who doesn't really talk to me that often. he peeks at me and smiles at me sometimes but i never would have known he felt so strongly about me. i am always surprised by how much of an impact we can have on other people without even knowing it. so on days when i have a bunch of fourth grade boys jumping down my throat, i'll have to remember to spread the love, because that might be the day they choose love over attitude.

makin' it happen

i can bore you with a million reasons why i have disappeared but the bottom line is, i am so busy i can barely take time out to sleep (which is why i ended up with the flu this week, i'm sure). i have been stockpiling posts but i am going to skip for those for now and give you a quick run-down of exciting stuff:

new garden beds. you know last year we just planted in the ground and it worked out quite well, but this year we wanted to update the look a bit so we chose raised beds. we're not too handy around here so this is a learn-as-you-go type project. one is ready for dirt, the other is still being constructed. i have to thank my husband for this one because i...insert big, sad, tears...haven't had time to dig in the dirt. i can't wait for spring break, though. i will be out there every day.

handmade bouncy balls. i saw this recipe and had to try it. the ball had been sitting out for hours when i decided to photograph it so it looks rough. it actually has a smooth texture like a ball and it worked so-so. i was a bit disappointed but the kids thought i was genius. actually, after it sit out for a while it worked better. i was trying to bounce it out on the patio but i think it's meant to bounce on the table. either way, it's a great little science project the kids can do and it's fun. try it.

my new bag. totally lovin' it. i used to be one of those people who had a lot of bags to match outfits and stuff, but then i had kids and i only carried a diaper dude. then, i pared down to a wallet but mostly i only carry my driver license and atm card in my pocket or in a little pouch. lately, i have been sporting the big, heavy backpack which is just so dull. i saw this and fell in love. i thought about it for a while because i had to analyze every detail of my potential purchase but i concluded that i really deserved to buy myself something nice. so...this is what i chose and it was forty percent off when i actually bought it. if you ever wanted to know more about me, this bag speaks volumes. it's who i am.

opi nail polish. i am in love with this color, teenage dream (part of the katy perry line). it's pink and sparkly and it makes me so happy. opi actually has a few glittery colors i love right now like sparkle icious and bring on the bling. oh, and black shatter. love, love, love. i'm a big hit with all the girls on the playground.
