here is a nice read about friendship.
i am one of those loyal-to-the-end type friends. i make friends slowly, very slowly, so i end up cherishing my friendships whether great or small. luckily for me, i'm not one of those people who needs many friends or the most friends. each friend has a special place in my heart, not one is greater than the other and they all encourage me to be a better person. some i see often and some i rarely see. some i have known since childhood and some i've only just met. and none of them are like the other. isn't friendship grand?
but the loveliest friend is your sibling. someone once said that your sibling is the one friend you will know the longest, so cherish them.

the cure
the cure for the moody blues? getting out and living life. and maybe a visit to the ocean.
it rained on the way there but it was so beautiful once we got closer to shore.

i think you're lovely
here i am. life has been busy, to say the least, but we're steaming ahead at full force. i don't like my personal life to be fast-paced so you might lose me again here or there. i'll find my way back, though, i will. you will probably start seeing more photos because...we finally did it, we bought a new camera. a digital dslr. i am so in love.
something i ordered a while ago and have been dying to share with you are these simple but elegant note cards. i also received an affirmation with my order...love it! you can check out the selection here. i like technology but i love snail mail even more. who wouldn't like to receive a hand-written note in the mail?
i'm failing at my cooking mission and i'm wondering how i am going to keep it up over the next few months. crock pot meals? handmade frozen meals? raw fruit/vegetable diet? it's a mystery. my one big accomplishment in the culinary world is getting my family off of white flour (as much as i can control, at least). we now eat whole wheat (nutty cardboard, as my husband refers to it) bread, whole wheat pasta, brown rice and earthy cereal. i thought it would be hard but it was actually very easy. i guess we were ready. i had some kids and parents over the other night so i decided to make pizza using a whole wheat pizza crust. everyone liked it...even the kids. the kids actually didn't even notice the change which surprised me because it's the kids who seem to notice everything. i made the pizza crust using the pioneer woman's recipe but swapped the white flour for organic, whole wheat flour. the crust was flavorless so next time i'm going to use some fresh herbs to jazz it up a bit. in the past, i have made dough using a bottle of beer which adds great flavor. i'll try to post once i find the recipe.
while at the mall a couple of weeks ago i was suckered into purchasing a nail kit from one of those cart vendors. you know, the annoying guy who chases you down to put some crap on your fingers and then starts filing away? i was distracted by my kids and my brother so i actually stopped which is where it all went bad. surprisingly, however, i love it. it's some sort of buffer kit and it makes my nails so smooth and so shiny in less than five minutes. i swear it's the best 29.99 i have ever spent...considering the price started at 79.99, i'd say it was a bargain. it works so well that i don't even want to polish my nails and i have a brand new bottle of chanel's particuliere sitting my shelf.
