and the green grass grows all around
i love winter. it rains a bit and makes our weeds look magical...almost like grass. and then once the rain stops and the sun peeks out, everyone runs outside with their lawnmowers to dwell in the beauty of a freshly mowed, green lawn. it seemed like all my neighbors were out that day doing yard work. we don't talk and we don't really know each other (what kind of a neighborhood is this?) but we all nodded to one another and smiled. it was a neighborly sort of day. my favorite kind of day, really. i savor those days because once summer arrives, our lawns will be brown and dead. then we'll lazily venture out now and then to mow dead weeds and it won't be as magical. and those are the days i think about shortening my shower so we can water the lawn. instead, one day (one day) we'll have a nice drought-resistant yard.

awww! GREAT photo! and I love the sentiment. ALL of our neighbors seem to have hired someone to come mow their grasses today RIGHT AT THE BEGINNING OF NAPTIME. bless 'em. I like your version better.
